2018 Bajaj Dominar Crash Report (Kerala): Bajaj Dominar has been a center of controversy in India. When people started showing trust in the brand, a sudden incident would rip all the badges off the Dominar’s shoulder.
This time, the most powerful bike of its class has shown us the high levels of quality that comes packed in its frame. This typical 2018 Bajaj Dominar has made headlines for staying intact after a truck rear-ended the motorcycle in Kerala. It seems like the owner was a touring fan as one can spot the custom visor and hand protectors on this motorcycle.
Locals were surprised to see this Dominar crash event and gathered to see if everything was fine. Luckily, the missing pillion rider managed to keep this accident away from those heart melting fatal crashes that we witness on Indian roads. The event was nothing less than a miracle as the bumper of that truck got stuck between the tire and rear frame, saving the occupant of Dominar 400 from falling to either side and getting hurt.
The visible part of the pillion seat confirms that more than 12 inches of the motorcycle are stuck in the radiator grill of the truck. A slightly higher force of impact would have destroyed the rear shock and overall stance of this motorcycle.
The owner will need to replace the rear half for sure. Bajaj Dominar 400 weighs 182 kg and all of this is here because of the heavy frame that Bajaj uses for its construction. A heavy motorcycle would mean lesser efficiency and performance for many but, those looking for die-hard touring will see the benefits when riding at high speeds on the highway.
Dominar 400 is powered by a 373cc, single cylinder engine, producing 35 HP and 35 Nm of torque. The powerful motor comes mated to a slipper clutch-assisted 6-speed gearbox. As present, the non-ABS model is priced at INR 1.46 lakh and the 2-channel ABS variant is available for INR 1.60 lakh (ex-showroom Delhi).
