Bajaj Auto recently reduced the price of all of its motorcycles (except Dominar) as government has implemented the GST tax in India. According to GST, the bikes which are under 350cc, will attract a tax rate of 28 percent instead of 30 percent under the old tax structure. For example, the price of Pulsar NS200, Pulsar RS200, and Pulsar 220F, has been slashed by a small margin. Know More
However, according to GST, the bikes which are above 350cc will attract 3 percent additional cess. This will increase the price of motorcycles which have engine displacement of 350cc and above. One such motorcycle is Dominar 400 and Bajaj has increased the price of Dominar by INR 2000 for both STD and ABS variants. Bajaj Auto has not yet updated the price list on their official website, but as per a recent report by India.com, the brand has increased the prices.
This is the 3rd price hike for Dominar 400 since its launch in India. The motorcycle is now priced at INR 1,41,000 for the non-ABS version and INR 1,55,000 for the 2-Channel ABS version. These prices are ex-showroom Delhi. Currently, Dominar 400 is not selling the way Bajaj Auto had planned for the current fiscal, the sales of Dominar dropped to just 1500 units in May 2017, which is very low as Bajaj was expecting to sell at least 10,000 units a month.
Even after getting the recent price hike, Bajaj Dominar 400 is the most affordable motorcycle of its segment. The value for money quotient is very high and buyers are tempted to test the 373cc, single cylinder engine of the motorcycle. The maximum output of 35 HP and 35 Nm of torque makes it one of the best options in the Indian market. Provisions like 6-speed gearbox with slipper clutch further makes gear shifting an easy affair on the motorcycle.
Dominar 400 was even the first motorcycle to bring full LED headlamp into the affordable motorcycle segment. It weighs 182 kg and claims a top speed of around 156 kmph. Dominar 400 provides a comfortable 800 mm seat height while its 157 mm of ground clearance is even effective for Indian roads. The claimed 0-100 kmph time of Bajaj Dominar is 8.23 seconds while it can come to halt from 100 kmph in less than 50 meters.
