Bajaj Hattrick offer will come to an end today, leaving dealers with no other option than keeping the dealerships open till 11 PM. The same happened yesterday as the number of buyers suddenly saw an increase with the new insurance rule that will come into effect from September 1. The one-year insurance policy, two-year service package and three years extended warranty on Bajaj bikes won’t be available from tomorrow. The IRDA notice makes the fact clear that anyone buying a new two-wheeler will need to have mandatory 5-year third party cover at the time of purchase.
The difference in on-road price, hypothetically considering everyone with a third party cover, will depend on engine size. For Bajaj Auto, the majority of sales fall between the first two segments, which will also face the wrath of increased initial insurance cost equally. Buyers of CT100, Platina, Discover, V15 and Pulsar 150 will now spend INR 3285 for 5-year insurance instead of just INR 720. Those looking for Pulsar 180, 220F, NS160, NS200, RS200 and Avenger series will need to pay INR 5453 in place of INR 985. Dominar buyers get the biggest shock with INR 13,034 instead of INR 2323.
That means a new buyer will approx spend INR 25,000-30,000 on the five-year zero depreciation insurance policy for a Bajaj Dominar. The result will be an on-road price of over INR 2 lakh for most cities. Bajaj registered just 1381 units for Dominar 400 and getting such huge on-road tag can scare many weak heated fans away from the brand. The number will be completely different for Classic 350 as it falls under the 350cc category. The entire five-digit sales figures seen in Bajaj Auto’s lineup are from the second segment, putting them equally against other manufacturers.
