Bajaj Working on Pulsar 250 & Next-Gen Pulsars: A recent report in the automotive industry claims that Bajaj Auto is working on a next-gen Pulsar lineup that will use advanced components and switch of technology from the present generation lineup. Termed as UG6, Pulsar lineup will witness inclusion of fuel injection and four valve setup for BS6 compliant engines before April 2020. Before this progress, every motorcycle in the Pulsar and Avenger range is said to bring single-channel ABS into action and fulfil all terms that the government has proposed for 2019.
The single-channel ABS unit is shared with NS200, first seen in Pulsar 220F and then in 180 and 150. As Bajaj offer 150, 180 and 220cc options under DTS-i lineup, it may not be possible for them to continue all of them for 2020. Pulsar 150 sells like hot cake and thus, it got ABS for April 2019 and will soon claim monoshock, major design update and fuel injection for April 2020.
It will then be seen how Bajaj adjusts the placement of Pulsar 150 and NS160 in India. Adding all these features to Pulsar 180 and 220F will also be necessary as both sell in good numbers. The same report even claims that Bajaj Auto may also introduce a new 250cc Pulsar in India around early 2020. This makes things fishy for Bajaj as placing the same around RS200 can challenge its existence.
If not that, they could leave the 200cc engine behind and work on both Pulsar NS250 and RS250 for 2020. This will allow them to introduce more power and tougher rivalry to the present generation of products. Bajaj Auto may again share parts among all models, which will include all-digital consoles and better exhausts with fewer emission values. Their update will help them survive the increasing wave of newcomers that include Honda CB Hornet 160R, X-Blade, Yamaha FZS V3 and even FZ25.
