Fancying to reach a wider audience base in India and increasing its overall market reach, Bajaj is all set to introduce the smaller displacement Dominar 250 in the Indian market. The reports suggest that the smaller Dominar has officially passed the stringent ARAI tests while the brand will be unveiling the bike sometime after April 2020.
The Bajaj Dominar 250 was recently spotted for the first time testing on the Indian roads while one can easily recognise the distinguished profile when compared to its 400cc sibling. Some reports also confirm that the upcoming lower-displacement motorcycle is only 600 grams lighter than the Dominar 400 for which the kerb weight stands at 184kgs.
Coming to the visual differences, the Dominar 250 has been equipped with cheaper swingarm unit while the size of the rear and front disc brakes has also been reduced. In addition to this, the motorcycle has been equipped with thinner tyres as compared to the 400cc variant while the chain cover is also different.
Apart from these cosmetic changes, the Dominar 250 retains all the bulk when compared to the Dominar 400 in addition to featuring the same USD forks at the front. The upcoming motorcycle is expected to share the engine specifications with the KTM Duke 250 though one can certainly expect the power and torque ratios to be tweaked according to the underlying hardware.
At present, the 248.8cc liquid-cooled single-cylinder engine on the KTM Duke 250 is capable of offering maximum power of 30HP and a peak torque of 24Nm. The engine is mated to a 6-speed transmission.
Launching the Bajaj Dominar 250 is one of the wisest steps taken by the brand when it comes to filling the gap between the Pulsar RS200 and the Dominar 400 in its current portfolio. When launched in India, the Dominar 250 is expected to get an attractive price tag of around INR 1.50-1.60 lakh (ex-showroom).
