2017 Benelli 150cc Sports Bike in the Works

According to this newly leaked patent image, Benelli is working on a 150cc Sportbike. The motorcycle looks completely different from the imagination of a fully faired TNT 15, carrying a different fuel tank, tail section and the alloy wheel design. It looks more inspired from the Tornado 302 while would be definitely loosing a lot of equipment in comparison to the twin-cylinder machine.

The motorcycle here lacks a rear disc brake, most probably because of the cost cutting measures. It has been codenamed BJ150T-30 and carries a new liquid cooled engine for sure. The motorcycle hints at a new lineup from Benelli where every segment will have a naked as well as fully faired version of its own. It is said to be for China only while its scope for other Asian markets is again quite high because of its 150 cc engine.

It may get the name Dragon 150 while TXV (T15), where the last two can symbolize 15 (XV) respectively, can also be used for the motorcycle. Its Indian launch in the coming year could get it the name Tornado 150 for the country. The entry of affordable sport bikes from international brands will bring tough competition. It may compete with the Yamaha R15 and Honda CBR150R.
