According to the latest buzz, Benelli is all set to re-enter the quarter-litre segment with the launch of two new 250cc bikes in India. The brand currently retails Leoncino 250, TRK 251, and the BN 251 in the quarter-litre segment in the international markets.
At present, Benelli is selling 6 motorcycles in the Indian market namely TNT 300, TNT 600, 302R, TRK 502, TRK 502X, and the recently-launched Leoncino 500. The brand is keen on updating its portfolio to a total of nine motorcycles by the end of the year 2019 with the launch of the Imperiale 400, TRK 251, and the Leoncino 250.
Benelli is expected to launch the Imperiale in the Indian market soon while one can further expect the brand to launch the 250cc bikes shortly after that. The brand has also confirmed that the upcoming quarter-litre motorcycles will be localised heavily to keep the cost under check while at the same time, both the motorcycles will get different specs when compared to their international counterparts.
Launching the Leoncino 250 first would be one of the best decisions made by the brand since the 250cc retro motorcycle category has not been explored in India as of yet. This will offer the brand a competitive edge in addition to offering an affordable option to the enthusiasts of Leoncino 500. Once launched in India, the Leoncino 250 is likely to get a price tag ranging between INR 2.2 lakh to INR 2.5 lakh.
Since ADV segment is also on the rise in the Indian market, launching the Benelli TRK 251 will also offer the brand a competitive edge when compared to the brands like Hero and Royal Enfield. One can expect the brand to price the TRK 251 adventure motorcycle between INR 2.5 lakh to INR 2.80 lakh (ex-showroom). The road-based ADV is likely to get a lesser price tag when compared to the BMW G310GS, which is currently available at INR 3.49 lakh (ex-showroom). The upcoming 250cc bikes from the Italian brand are expected to capture the quarter-litre segment by a storm.
