According to a recent report by Autocar India, Benelli will be launching the Leoncino 250 in the Indian market on October 5, 2019. Benelli has recently launched the Leoncino 500 in India while the launch of Imperiale 400 is also expected soon. The upcoming Leoncino 250 will join the brand’s quarter-litre segment which previously featured the TNT25 that has already been discontinued in 2018.
The all-new entry-level motorcycle from the brand will take styling inspiration from its elder sibling, the Leoncino 500 though one can expect the brand to replace the oval headlamp setup as well as other graphics. In addition to this, the Leoncino 250 will also feature the same Lion motif on the front fender.
Apart from these, the motorcycle will get a distinguished chassis frame, suspension and engine setup that will set it apart from the rest of the motorcycles in Benelli’s portfolio. In addition to getting an all-new digital instrument console, the Leoncino 250 will also feature petal-type disc brakes at the front, mated to dual-channel ABS as standard. The motorcycle will get a 110/70-R17 tyre at the front while featuring a 150/60-R17 tyre at the rear.
Powering the Leoncino 250 will be a 249cc, single-cylinder, liquid-cooled engine that will be capable of churning out a maximum power of 25.8HP and a peak torque of 21.2Nm. The engine will be mated to a 6-speed gearbox.
One can expect the entry-level motorcycle from the brand to be priced competitively around INR 1.80 lakh to INR 2 Lakh (ex-showroom). There is no actual competition in the Indian market when it comes to the scrambler style 250cc motorcycles, which will give the upcoming Leoncino 250 a competitive edge in its segment. The upcoming 250cc motorcycle will be one of the most affordable motorcycles ever sold by the Italian manufacturer in India.
