The entry-level Scrambler by Benelli, Leoncino 250 has been finally launched in India with an ex-showroom price tag of INR 2.50 lakh. The bike marks itself as the new entry in the quarter-litre segment after the Benelli TNT25, that was discontinued in 2018. The styling of the Leoncino 250 resembles a lot to the recently-launched Leoncino 500 except for the oval headlamp and new graphics, which gives it a distinguished appearance.
If we go by the dimensions of the 250cc Leoncino, it is 2030mm in length, 840mm in width, and it measures 1115mm in height. The motorcycle has a ground clearance of 170mm while it gets 12.5 litres of fuel tank capacity. The wheelbase of the Leoncino 250 stands at 1380mm.
Talking about the design of the bike, it gets a steel trellis chassis, premium-looking components, and an all-new digital instrument cluster. The Leoncino 250 is powered by a 249cc, single-cylinder, 4-stroke, liquid-cooled engine that is capable of producing 25.8HP of maximum power along 21Nm of peak torque. The engine comes mated to a 6-speed gearbox. The suspension duties of the bike are handled by a 41mm USD telescopic forks at the front and a preload-adjustable monoshock suspension at the rear.
For braking, the bike gets a petal-shaped 280mm single disc at the front with axially mounted callipers and a 240mm single disc at the rear end. The motorcycle is equipped with dual-Channel ABS as standard. The Benelli Leoncino 250 rides on a 110/70-R17 tyre at the front and a 150/60-R17 tyre at the rear.
This bike is the first scrambler-style 250cc motorcycle to go on sale in India so there is no direct competition in the market. As present, the bike is priced on the higher side in comparison to the rest of the 250cc bikes available in the Indian market though, the price of the Leoncino 250 is expected to drop once the components of the bike become localised in the coming months.
