Benelli has officially launched the much-awaited Leoncino 500 in India at a price tag of INR 4.79 lakh. The newly-launched scrambler was teased recently over Benelli’s social media platform with the #ReadyToRoar hashtag.
Though the Leoncino 500 is available in the international markets in three variants namely: Standard, Trail, and Sport, the Italian manufacturer has only launched the standard variant in India.
The second offering from Benelli with a 500cc displacement, the Leoncino can be further availed in two colour options: Silver and Red. The pre-bookings for the motorcycle are now officially open on the official website of Benelli India with a token amount of INR 10,000.
Powering the Benelli Leoncino 500 is a 499.6cc twin-cylinder liquid-cooled fuel-injected engine capable of generating a maximum power output of 47.5HP at 8,500rpm and a peak torque of 46 Nm at 6,000rpm. The engine is mated to a 6-speed transmission. The braking duties on the motorcycle are handled by 320mm twin disc brakes with four-piston callipers at the front and a 260mm single disc brake with single-piston calliper at the rear.
The brand has equipped the Leoncino 500 with dual-channel ABS as standard for additional safety. Coming to the suspension, the motorcycle features 50mm upside-down telescopic forks at the front while the rear of the motorcycle gets a monoshock absorber with remote preload adjustment. The 785mm of seat height is perfect for riders of varying proportions.
The Benelli Leoncino 500 gets dual projectors inside a round headlight casing in addition to featuring LED blinkers. The motorcycle has been equipped with a fully-digital instrument console while the 17-inch alloy wheels enhance the premium stance
The perfectly carved metal lion, placed on the front fender, gives an exclusive look to the retro-inspired scrambler. Suitable for mild touring, the compact scrambler from Benelli indirectly competes in the Indian market with the likes of Royal Enfield Interceptor 650 and the Ducati Scrambler Icon.
