Benelli MotoBi 250 Spotted Testing in India

Benelli MotoBi 250 was recently spied testing in India. The motorcycle was spotted cruising on a highway, clearly revealing its identity through the conventional engine and exhaust setup. The body parts were camouflaged but still, guessing MotoBi 250 is not that difficult through its strict cruiser design.

The fuel tank is purely cruiser specific while one starts getting fascinated with that huge pillion support for ease in long rides. DSK Benelli is one of the best selling performance brand and adding more motorcycle segments would help them establish a better place among Japanese dominators. Still, there’s one big problem with MotoBi 250.

The twin cylinder, 251cc engine sounds great to the ears but when it comes to performance, it falls short of numbers as maximum power and torque values stand at 17.43 Bhp  at 8000 rpm and 16.5 Nm at 6000 rpm. The engine comes mated to a 5-speed gearbox. If we compare the same to a standard Apache RTR 200, the latter is single cylinder and still produce a much higher figure than this spied motorcycle. MotoBi 250 weighs 145 kg (dry) and carries a wheelbase of 1460 mm. It comes with single front disc brake and use drum brake setup at the rear.

Benelli may use this same frame and design to push their much more powerful 300cc, twin cylinder engine into the motorcycle. It would be the best step as both cost and power will be kept under check.

If this same 250cc engine comes into existence in India, we can expect this twin cylinder cruiser to be priced under INR 2 lakh but in case Benelli plans to plonk the 300cc engine from TNT300 on the MotoBi, the expectations will rise to around INR 3 lakh.

Benelli recently launched 302R in India for INR 3.48 lakh. The same came with dual channel ABS and rivals none other than Kawasaki Ninja 300. The only direct rival to Benelli MotoBi 250 is Hyosung Aquila 250, that too priced at INR 2.84 lakh.
