According to recent reports, the BS6 Benelli Imperiale 400 will launch in India at a price tag of INR 2.20 lakh. The updated motorcycle variant is expected to be launched by the brand in the coming days while the price tag has surfaced online ahead of its official launch.
The motorcycle was initially launched in India back in October 2019 with an ex-showroom price tag of INR 1.69 lakh and the brand hiked the price to INR 1.80 lakh in February 2020. The motorcycle was already available in the markets with a fuel-injected engine in its BS4 avatar which certainly makes the premium of INR 40,000 on its BS6 price tag seem quite hefty.
In its BS4 version, the 374cc, air-cooled, single-cylinder engine equipped on the last-gen Imperiale 400 was capable of churning out a maximum power of 21HP and a peak torque of 29Nm. Since the engine is now BS6-compliant, the brand has equipped it with an additional catalytic converter as well as an oxygen sensor to comply with the new emission norms.
The BS6 upgrade could certainly tweak the power and torque figures for the updated engine though there has been no official information revealed on the new performance ratios. On the other hand, the updated engine will remain mated to a five-speed transmission just like the BS4 version.
Coming to the cosmetic updates, the motorcycle is expected to feature identical design when compared to its BS4 counterpart though the Italian brand is expected to offer the BS6 Benelli Imperiale 400 a new set of decals to boost its appeal. The updated motorcycle is expected to feature the similar semi-digital instrument panel while the headlight is also expected to remain the same.
The suspension duties will be handled by the same telescopic forks at the front and dual absorbers at the rear. The disc brakes at either side will be mated to a dual-channel ABS as standard. Once launched in India, the BS6 Benelli Imperiale 400 is expected to compete against the likes of RE Classic 350 in the Indian markets.
