Mahavir Group is planning to launch 13 Benelli bikes in India, revamping the Italian brand’s image in the country through all-new and upgraded versions of the currently listed models. Talking about the models that buyers are familiar with, Benelli TNT600i and 302R will arrive in their own skin. TNT300 will get a worthy replacement through 302S and rest 10 models will be all-new for the Indian market. Four models of Benelli Leoncino (250 Scrambler, 500 Scrambler, Trail and Sport) may arrive in the country while TRK will be the second most popular nameplate with 251 Adventure, 502 and 502X under consideration.
The premium streetfighter, Benelli 752S, along with Imperiale 400 retro cruiser and 402S sports cruiser, will complete their most expected Indian lineup. The brand will cover every aspect of the Indian premium motorcycling segment through these 13 models, evenly spreading across the most demanded section of sportbikes. The report of DSK filing for bankruptcy has forced both Hyosung and Benelli to find new partners, out of which, the latter is now under the command of Mahavir Group. They earlier managed multiple dealerships from Benelli. Hyosung, on the other hand, went into the Kinetic Group bandwagon.
Benelli earlier had a long list of premium sportbikes in India, including the much powerful TNT 1130R variant with a 135 BHP engine. They first discontinued both TNT1130R and 899 from India, leaving just TNT600i and GT as two high displacement models. Later, the GT variant was discontinued from the country. A report in the industry has also hinted that mandatory ABS rule will not allow Benelli to launch the TNT200 in India as the pricing will be highly non-justified. The most happening model to launch soon is 302S, carrying a sharp design and familiar engine as the 302R. It is expected to get a price tag of around INR 3.25 lakh.
