The new model of the Benelli 302R sports bike has been teased ahead of the official launch in China. The brand has released a teaser image of the new 302R which says: “Coming Soon”. After the launch in China, the updated BS6-compliant model is expected to launch in India in the coming weeks.
The undisguised photo of the upcoming motorcycle got leaked back on April 24, 2020, revealing that the updated model has not been imparted with any major changes when compared to its current-gen version.
The next-gen Benelli 302R features almost identical design language though the brand is expected to offer it a BS6-compliant engine for the Indian markets. In addition to this, the new colour schemes, as well as varying graphics on the body panels, will be capable of offering a fresher look to the updated motorcycle.
Further differentiating the 2020 Benelli 302R is the probability of featuring a fully-digital instrument console that will replace the semi-digital instrument panel seen on its current avatar. Apart from this, the upcoming version of the Italian motorcycle is expected to get some other feature bits for setting it apart from the current-gen 302R.
The Indian markets will be getting the updated motorcycle with a BS6-compliant 300cc, parallel-twin, liquid-cooled engine that will be capable of offering almost identical performance ratios when compared to the BS4 version. In its current-gen BS4 state, the 300cc engine is capable of churning out a maximum power of 38.2HP and a peak torque of 26.5Nm.
The updated motorcycle variant is expected to weigh 210kgs, which is almost 12kgs heavier when compared to the 198kgs of kerb weight of the BS4 version. Apart from this, the mechanical bits are expected to remain the same. The 2020 Benelli 302R is expected to get the same USD forks at the front and a monoshock absorber at the rear. The disc brake setup at either side is expected to be mated to a dual-channel ABS as standard.
In terms of pricing, the 2020 model is expected to be priced around INR 10,000 higher than the current-gen BS4 version, which was available with an ex-showroom price tag of INR 3.10 lakh.
