Indian market again saw an upward trend in gear-less scooter sales, clearly visible to every brand with Honda Activa’s recent score of 3,35,595 units in August 2017. This makes it the highest selling automobile for this month, winning over anything and everything that could help you drive through the city with such ease.
This number is almost four times the second scooter on list and that makes Honda Activa an uncrowned king of personal transport in India. TVS Jupiter stood second with 81,277 units, clearly stating that TVS is not behind in terms of overall growth. Love of buyers for automatic scooters seems so clear that third position, bagged by Hero Maestro Edge, now has 43,804 units on its side.
Honda Dio followed close with 39,964 units of sale in August 2017. Even close to that, Suzuki Access registered 39,550 units during the same period, leaving the difference to just 414 units between the fourth and fifth position. A sudden drop in sales can be seen after these five as preference among buyers is seen more for these scooters than any other available machine in India.
Yamaha Fascino stood sixth with 21,628 units of sale while Hero Duet came seventh with 20,284 units. Yamaha Ray is even in demand these days, selling 17,282 units in August 2017 and winning over TVS Scooty Pep+ by around 2,800, which stands at 14,430 units. Hero Pleasure saw a downfall trend but still managed to get the tenth spot at 13,550 units.
