India’s 1st BMW C400 GT Maxi Scooter Delivered to Swaran Paaji

The popular German brand BMW Motorrad has finally introduced its C400 GT maxi-scooter to India, carrying an ex-showroom price tag of Rs 9.95 lakh. As we reported earlier, ahead of the official launch, around 100 customers had already booked the scooter and the official bookings are open from October 12, 2021.

Interested customers can book the scooter by paying the amount of Rs 1 lakh as token money. The BMW C400 GT is the first true maxi-scooter in the Indian two-wheeler market.

Moreover, the first owner of the BMW C400 GT premium scooter in India, Mr Swaranjit Bajaj, has taken delivery from Navnit BMW Motorrad, Mumbai. Popularly known as Swaran Paaji on his social media accounts, he is a well-known bike enthusiast and professionally, he is the director of Punjab Sind Premium Dairy.

The all-new C400 GT is the most expensive scooter in the country, but import duties can be blamed for this because the scooter is brought to us by the company via the CBU route.

In terms of performance, the stylish maxi-scooter is powered by a 350cc, liquid-cooled, single-cylinder engine producing 34HP at 7,500 rpm and 35Nm of max torque at 5,750 rpm. The engine is coupled to a step-less CVT transmission, allowing the vehicle to reach a top speed of 139km/h. Moreover, for rider safety, the BMW C400 GT comes standard with disc brakes on both the front and rear wheels, as well as ABS and a ride-by-wire throttle for improved road handling.

A new engine management system has also been added to the list of improvements in the 2022 model of the scooter. There’s also a new exhaust system, a catalytic converter, an oxygen sensor, and a reworked cylinder head, all of which contribute to the scooter’s compliance with Euro V emissions standards. In addition, the suspension responsibilities on the maxi-style scooter are handled by 35mm telescopic forks upfront and a twin aluminium swingarm up back.
