India's 1st BMW HP4 Race Superbike Lands in New Delhi

India’s first BMW HP4 Race has reached the Delhi dealership and seems ready for delivery. The motorcycle is a track-specific option with no charges of registration bound to its purchase. The model costs INR 85 lakh and comes in a single shade option only. Lutyens Motorrad, the dealer for BMW Motorrad in the north region, will deliver the HP4 Race to Mr. Vikram Oberoi. For those who think the names feels familiar, he is the same man who bought the one-off India specific Ducati 1299 Superleggera for INR 1.12 Crore. The HP4 Race comes with similar statistics and a slightly more wet weight.

The primary building material for this rare superbike is carbon fiber, saving a lot more weight than one can expect by even removing the unnecessary panels. BMW HP4 Race is also limited to 750 units, adding one gem to the collection of limited edition bikes by Mr. Oberoi. The motorcycle is based on BMW S1000RR, adding some really exotic list of components to reach this exclusive point. The 999cc engine uses titanium parts to resist the added performance, producing 215 hp of maximum power at 13,900 rpm and 120 Nm of torque at 10,000 rpm.

The engine claims a top speed in excess of 300 kph while wheels are lighter by 30 percent than standard aluminum wheels. This not just helps in overall weight reduction but, also lowers the rotational force required to move the wheels. The front end comes with carbon fiber fairing, Ohlins suspension, and Ohlins TTX monoshock. The motorcycle weighs just 171.4 kg, lower in comparison to any road going liter-class racer or even similar to a fully fuelled KTM RC 390. Imagine 215 hp coming through the twist of a throttle in place of the 43.5 hp available on stock KTM RC390.
