TVS Motors has started exporting the BMW G310R naked street fighter from India. It is being manufactured at the company’s manufacturing facility at Hosur (Tamil Nadu). G310R has been designed by BMW Motorrad and TVS is manufacturing it in India and will export it to various international markets.
The launch of BMW G310R was delayed in India recently and it will be now launched later this year, most probably in 2nd half of 2017. G310R was confirmed for April/May 2017 but due to some unknown reasons, the launch has been delayed for India. It was one of the most awaited products of 2017. BMW Motorrad will launch its operations in India next month and the brand will launch all high-end motorcycles in India except the G310R and G310GS.
TVS Starts Exporting BMW G310R from India
The most favorable reason for this delayed launch could be the difficulties being faced in setting-up the sales outlets for the motorcycle. BMW Motorrad is gearing up for more showrooms before the mass market option is launched in India. This could take few months as feasibility study for operating a BMW dealership in most cities of India would take considerable time.
BMW will launch bigger players like K1600, R1200 and S1000 series in India. This time, they will come up with better prices for tough competition with premium segment players like Ducati, Triumph, Kawasaki and many others. Some reports even state that BMW is unable to decide on the final pricing as both placing it lower or higher could bring drastic effects.
BMW G310R is powered by 313 cc, single cylinder engine producing 33.6 BHP at 9500 rpm and 28 Nm at 7500 rpm. The engine comes mated to a 6-speed gearbox and claims a top speed of 143 kmph. It comes with premium features like USD forks, dual channel ABS and full digital instrument console. TVS is manufacturing the G310R for BMW at its Chennai plant.
