BSA Gold Star 650 Price Revealed; Rivals Royal Enfield Interceptor 650

The price of the much-anticipated BSA Gold Star has been revealed, and contrary to market speculation, it is a reasonably priced motorcycle. The launch of this highly anticipated motorcycle has been delayed significantly since its unveiling in December 2021. However, with the prices in place, it appears that this will change very soon.

The upcoming BSA Gold Star will be a 650cc thumper with a retro-modern design that will appeal to both old-timers and hipsters. Interestingly, this liquid-cooled 652cc single-cylinder engine is based on a Rotax-developed model of the same displacement that BMW used on the F650 Funduro.

The BSA Gold Star will produce 45.6PS and 55Nm (2PS less and 3Nm more than the Royal Enfield Interceptor 650), and while not the most exciting proposition on paper, it certainly packs enough punch to eat into the competition’s wallet share.

Both Royal Enfield and BSA are heritage British brands with some novelty value. We expect Classic Legends’ BSA Gold Star 650 to cost significantly more than the Interceptor 650, possibly around Rs. 5 lakh in India. However, according to the official UK price list, the base model of Gold Star is available for GBP 6,500 (roughly Rs 6.15 lakh) and the prices go up to GBP 7,000 (roughly Rs 6.63 lakh) depending on the colour option, just like a RE Interceptor.

In the UK, an Interceptor costs around GBP 6200 (roughly Rs 5.87 lakh), which is significantly more than what we pay in India. So, if an Interceptor costs Rs 3.33 lakh (ex-showroom) in India, we can expect BSA to price this under Rs 5 lakh to compete effectively with its British cousin.
