Cleveland Motorcycles recently entered the Indian market through Auto Expo 2018. They are one among those new entries that were highly awaited by Indian fans. This brings more fun to the viewers as a long list of new products can be seen on the finest automotive Indian display.
Every international manufacturer is willing to enter India due to the large customer base and Cleveland has promised two products within 2018, both being under 250cc. India is currently the largest two wheeler market around the world.
Cleveland was found in 2009 and has a small lineup of motorcycles on their side. They create custom designs and may help Indian buyers get a great machine that fits their attitude. They will compete against typical Indian segments like Cafe Racer and Retro machines, not forgetting their capable dirt machines that rival Kawasaki entry level dirt bikes internationally.
They have considerable presence in almost 23 countries around the world. The brand sources major components from China and make bikes ranging between 110cc-450cc. Range of bikes on offer includes FXX and FXR, both being 110cc dirt bikes for early riders. These two are not meant presently for Indian market. Cleveland Motorcycles even now has an Indian website and lists Ace Deluxe and Misfit on the same.
They have entered India through a joint venture with Laish-Madison MotorWerks of Hyderabad and use their assembly line to produce around 35,000 units annually by the end of 2018. The initial route would be CKD while popular model could later enter local production for the Indian market.
Cleveland could be an affordable option when looking for an exclusive design and getting the same under a restricted engine size. The Misfit is a 144 kg, retro modern designed motorcycle that carries a comfortable 775 mm of seat height.
Both the bikes are powered by a quarter liter air-cooled engine (229cc to be exact) producing 15.2 BHP @ 7000 rpm and 16 Nm of torque @ 6000 rpm. It uses USD golden front forks. The top speed of both bikes would be around 110 kmph. Buyers can expect INR 2.00-2.25 lakh worth price tags for these bikes.
