Brembo Brakes Recall: Ducati to Fix Faulty Brembo Brakes on 8000 Bikes

Brembo Brakes Recall: Ducati has officially issued a recall for faulty Brembo brakes in many of its international models. The issued recall is currently limited to US market.

The list of motorcycles include 1299 Panigale, Multistrada 1200, Multistrada 1260, Monster 1200, Panigale R, xDiavel and Scrambler models with Brembo brake at the front wheel.

Manufacturing year can vary from 2015 to the present date. The risk of front master cylinder failure led to this recall as it will result in loss of ability to brake from the upper right lever. The owners will be notified by Ducati through their given contact details in US.

Dealers will replace the faulty Brembo brake master cylinder free of cost and the process is expected to start next month. Ducati is not the first brand to issue a recall regarding Brembo brakes as Aprilia had already notified the dealers to contact the affected bikes carrying defective master cylinder.

Brembo is the most trusted high performance braking brand and almost every manufacturer uses their brakes on their flagship models. Ducati will cater to almost 8000 units in the US and surprisingly, the rare Panigale 1299 Superleggera may also be a part of this unfortunate recall.

Buyers of other brands like KTM, Triumph and MV Agusta could also include their high end models in the recall as they also share the same Brembo brakes as Ducati and Aprilia bikes.

As these bikes are also sold in India, Ducati and other brands may also issue a recall for these bikes here in the coming weeks. This will result in a big revenue loss for Brembo and partner brands in total.
