Ducati Monster 821 Video Review by Rahul Mazumder: YouTube vlogger ‘Ride with Rahul’ is here with an extended review for the newly introduced 2018 Ducati Monster 821. He feels satisfied with the motorcycle as counting new features like dual barrel exhaust, full TFT console, and Brembo brakes make this an ideal competitor to Triumph Street Triple and Kawasaki Z900.
He praises a shorter wheelbase and Ducati trellis frame for the easy handling while design lines have also improved on the newcomer. As Ducati recently updated the fuel tank design, Monster 821 now carries 16.5-liter capacity. Ducati has designed the seat in such a way that riders will feel like home when feet grounding comes into action.
The rear seat can be unleashed by simply removing the cowl. The headlight still lacks full LED illumination while certain features like the upside down front forks and foot-pegs are shared with the older version.
He felt that the brakes are really encouraging and various riding modes allow users to switch riding styles in just a few clicks. The urban mode restricts power to 70% of the maximum value while sports mode gets all 109 horses to work. The console adjusts the color according to available light conditions. The motorcycle features adjustable seat height and rear set foot-pegs for an aggressive riding position.
Even without the optional quick-shifter, Ducati Monster 821 brings smooth upshifts in most conditions. It took him just 3.5 seconds to claim a 0-100 kph sprint. That means, first 60 kph came in 2 seconds while next 40 took just 1.5 seconds to arrive.
Monster 821 grips the corner like no other motorcycle from its segment. It is powered by an 821cc engine, producing 109 HP at HP at 9250 rpm and 86 Nm at 7750 rpm. The bike feels powerful in the low range also, making it an excellent option when not considering a fully faired machine. It weighs less than 200 kg with a full fuel tank.
