The much-talked-about Harley-Davidson 338R naked motorcycle has been spotted undisguised for the first time. As visible in the image, the streetfighter looks production-ready and it is expected to launch in the Indian markets next year. The upcoming motorcycle is based on the Benelli 302S, which is also going to be launched in India by early 2021.
To jog your memory, Harley-Davidson has entered the small displacement motorcycle segment in a joint association with a Chinese firm – Zhejiang Qianjiang. According to the alliance, the brands will be co-developing two different bikes among which the first one is the 338R streetfighter.
According to the reports and as stated by the brand itself, the bike will be manufactured in China and will be exported to the other parts of the world. In terms of looks, the Harley-Davidson 338R has a simple yet modern design. Some of the key highlights include a slim fuel tank, a single-piece step-up seat, thick USD front forks, an underbelly exhaust system, and arrow-shaped radiator shrouds.
Mechanically, it is being said that the upcoming Harley-Davidson motorcycle will be powered by a reworked version of the twin-cylinder engine from the Benelli 302S, which has a bore and stroke dimensions of 69mm and 45.2mm respectively.
At present, we don’t have any confirmed details regarding the power and torque figures though one can expect the Harley-Davidson 338R to generate a maximum power of around 42 HP. The engine will be mated to a 6-speed transmission which is further expected to get a slipper and assist clutch as standard.
Apart from a different styling and a differently-tuned engine, the Harley-Davidson 338R would be sharing most of the hardware components with the Benelli 302S like the suspension, brakes, tyres, wheels, frame etc. Harley’s first-ever 300cc-segment motorcycle is expected to make an official debut outside India in the coming weeks while we will be getting the motorcycle sometime in the next year.
