Harley-Davidson 48 Special was recently launched in the US for $11,299. The price is exactly similar to the standard variant and thus, Indian market could get this special edition anytime in the coming days for INR 10 Lakh (Ex-showroom).
Harley has reworked the entire black and chrome setup as those parts finished black on Forty Eight are seen in chrome on the special edition. That same reversal is seen all over for chrome also. Same as the newly launched Iron 1200, Forty Eight Special gets a new way of branding over the fuel tank. Handlebar is also shared among both new models.
The exhaust design is also new on Forty-Eight Special. Engine powering the massive machine remains the same 1200cc unit that produces 98 Nm of torque. It weighs slightly more than the standard version while fat 130mm and 150mm 16 inch tyres are shared among both the bikes.
It could be a limited run model from Harley to boost the overall presence of Forty-Eight but those who cannot get their hands on this one can get the same handlebar and customize the ride accordingly. Switching chrome with black and vice versa will also not be a big problem with most customizers.
The range presently starts from INR 5.17 lakh and goes up to INR 53.72 lakh. They may soon bring down the prices of completely built up imports as government has reduced the excise duty on these bikes from 75% to 50%. This will help brands like Harley, Indian and Triumph gain considerable sales.
