Harley-Davidson and KYMCO Shake Hands To Develop Futuristic EVs

Livewire, Harley-Davidson’s electric motorcycle division will become the first publicly traded EV motorcycle company in the US through a merger with AEA Bridges Impact Corp (ABIC) and an important investment from their strategic partner KYMCO, a Taiwanese manufacturer also known as Kwang Yang Motor Co Ltd. This partnership between Harley-Davidson, ABIC and KYMCO create a unique opportunity to revolutionize the future of motorcycling. This merger sets Livewire up for future success and will provide the bike with access to KYMCO’s digital and tech capabilities, powertrain and vehicle manufacturing global supply chain in addition to a strong existing presence in key Asian markets. KYMCO will be investing $100 million into LiveWire and AEA-Bridges Impact Corp (ABIC) which is a special purpose acquisition company, will associate to form a new publicly traded company.

LiveWire will be the first publicly traded electric motorcycle company in the US with an estimated post-money valuation of $2.3 billion after the completion of the deal. In addition to that, Harley will also be investing $100 million into the new venture. LiveWire One unveiled their first product earlier this year which is the LiveWire motorcycle earlier sold under the name Harley. The company stated that to enhance the global manufacturing and distribution capabilities, it planned strategically to accelerate its go-to-market model and to invest in new product development.

Jochen Zeitz, Chairman, President and CEO – Harley-Davidson stated in his announcement that this handshake is the historic phase in the journey of LiveWire up till now. In addition to becoming the first US company to publicly trade EV motorcycles after this association, the company’s main purpose is to become the most desirable electric motorcycle brand in the world by building on Harley Davidson’s 118-year lineage.
