Harley-Davidson has increased its reach in the Indian market by opening its first dealership in Jammu. The inauguration ceremony of the dealership took place in the presence of Harley-Davidson owners, some riders from the city and some local guests invited by Sajeev Rajasekharan, the Managing Director of Harley-Davidson India. At the event, Sajeev Rajasekharan, MD, Harley-Davidson India said, ”Every Harley-Davidson dealership is the main touchpoint for our consumers to experience the vision of pure freedom that we promise. Col KL Khajuria GM, Ridges Harley-Davidson (Jamkash Biking Pvt. Ltd) said, “Jammu holds great potential for the motorcycling community not just by way of rider patrons in the area but also for travellers riding up to the Valley and travelling beyond on their Harley-Davidson motorcycles. Through our newly launched facility, we endeavour to deliver service excellence to our patrons in the Valley and beyond”.
Among other updates, Harley-Davidson recently also unveiled the Livewire motorcycle, which is the first all-electric product by the brand and it was introduced in order to climb the charts of sales but unfortunately, it caught itself into the clutches of controversy when some technical glitches were spotted with the charging mechanism. This event resulted in a complete halt regarding the production, as well as the sales of the same for a few weeks.
As far as the future ventures of the brand are concerned, Harley-Davidson has been planning big for countries like India, China and Brazil. In association with a Chinese manufacturer, the brand has also engineered a 338cc motorcycle, which will be one of the most pocket-friendly Harley bikes in the market. It is expected to launch in China by the end of 2020 whereas its Indian debut can be expected by 2021.
