Harley-Davidson LiveWire, the first electric motorcycle from the brand has been officially unveiled in India. Accompanied with superior features and power-packed performance, the motorcycle is expected to go on sale in the Indian market in the coming months with a price tag of around INR 40-50 lakh. The LiveWire has been already listed on the brand’s official website in India. The brand is offering the motorcycle in three colour schemes namely: Vivid Black, Orange Fuse, and Yellow Fuse.
Harley-Davidson LiveWire is equipped with a new electric powertrain namely H-D Revelation which further features a permanent magnet electric motor. The motor equipped on the motorcycle is powered by 15.5 kWh Rechargeable Energy Storage System (RESS) that is capable of churning out a maximum power of 105 HP and a peak torque of 116 Nm.
The suspension duties are handled by big-piston forks by Showa at the front while the rear has been equipped with an adjustable mono-shock. The motorcycle has been designed with an aluminium frame to keep it lightweight whereas the battery and the electric motor has been placed in the place of the engine box that gives the motorcycle an authentic bulky look when compared to all other Harley-Davidson motorcycles. The motorcycle can be operated in four modes namely Road, Rain, Range and Sport. The motorcycle can be further operated with three user-customizable riding modes.
Harley-Davidson LiveWire completes a distance of 0-97 kmph in just 3 seconds. On a single charge of the battery, the company claims a range of 235 km for the motorcycle. The bike can be charged up to 80% in just 40 minutes while takes an hour for a full charge. The 12-volt lithium-ion battery is further responsible for offering power for the startup. The electric motorcycle has been equipped with a 4.3-inch TFT touchscreen console which also features connectivity options.
The riders can connect their smartphones as well as wireless headphones via the touchscreen display. With the new digital console, the riders can take calls, listen to music while on the go. The motorcycle has been equipped with Harley’s Reflex Defensive Rider System (RDRS) which includes ABS, cornering ABS, traction control, front-wheel lift mitigation and more. The motorcycle after its initial launch will go on a 5 city tour. The customers can also test ride the newly-launched electric motorcycle at their nearest Harley-Davidson dealership.
