Harley-Davidson LiveWire to be Priced at $29,799 (INR 20.88 Lakh)

The production version of Harley-Davidson Livewire is now listed on the official website (USA) for $29,799 (INR 20.88 lakh approx, direct conversion). The motorcycle has undergone considerable changes in terms of design while performance is no more a question from the American cruiser manufacturer. Harley will start deliveries for the Livewire internationally in August 2019, producing the same at their US-based production facility in Pennsylvania. The concept version is now a tale of the old days, leaving behind the basic profile for an upmarket look with sleek fuel tank, which actually holds no fuel and comes with sockets for plugging the motorcycle to the electricity source.

The design was kept more or less similar to the existing fuel tanks, offering fans the same experience that they get with conventional Harley bikes. The body-coloured front headlight fairing is another addition, helping designer explore more possibilities of expression from their first electric motorcycle. The seat is compact and good enough to support two riders while swing-arm design also gets an update on the production model. The front now features dual disc brakes from Brembo whereas the concept came with single disc brake setup at both ends. The front and rear fully adjustable suspension are sourced from Showa.

Harley-Davidson Livewire claims 0-97 kph time of just 3.5 seconds while the total estimated range is around 175 kilometres. Harley-Davidson is the first mainstream cruiser brand to enter the electric motorcycle segment with their Livewire project. The launch of this machine marked their entry into sustainable energy segment as many environmentalists argued over the use of big V-Twin engines on these bikes. They can even start with early bookings to see how fans react to their first big step toward a greener riding environment. The pricing makes it an expensive option for sure. Harley-Davidson may launch the LiveWire in India by the end of this year.
