Harley-Davidson, the American motorcycle manufacturer, is aiming to sell at least 1 lakh units of the e-motorcycle LiveWire by 2026. According to the reports, the company claims that the range of the annual sales of this e-motorcycle will reach up to 1,90,000 units by 2030 and the company is surely thinking big for the first time ever in the segment of EV mass production. These big numbers got leaked during one of the investor presentations.
LiveWire is Harley-Davidson’s sub-brand and was launched back in 2021, and from the start, they are aiming to be a leader in the EV segment. In fact, the brand is getting to enter the affordable end of the segment. It has agreed to an agreement to jointly develop EVs with Kymco. They have developed a replacement S2 architecture which will be used to build new EVs. The S2 Del Mar – a street motorcycle is probably going to be the primary motorcycle to be built upon this platform.
We can expect the new LiveWire EVs to return to India eventually, but with a price range that’s sure to make it extremely exclusive among all the available e-motorcycles. Harley’s India operations are being controlled by Hero MotoCorp, the giant company possessing lots of money and resources. So some major developments can be expected from this company from them in the electric vehicle segment.
