Harley-Davidson Street 750 and Street Rod Discontinued: Harley-Davidson has discontinued the entry-level Street 750 and the Street Rod 750 in the Indian markets while both the motorcycles have also been removed from the official website of Harley-Davidson India.
The brand announced its exit from India in September last year and halted production at its Haryana manufacturing plant. As a result, Harley’s most affordable motorcycles – the Street 750 and the Street Rod 750, which were manufactured in India have now been discontinued.
Harley-Davidson recently entered into a partnership with Hero MotoCorp and as per the details available, they would be selling only CBU models for now. With the discontinuation of the 750cc Street series, Iron 883 is now the entry-level motorcycle for India, which is available with an ex-showroom price tag of INR 9.38 lakhs. For your reference, the Harley-Davidson Street 750 and the Street Rod 750 were available with an ex-showroom price tag of INR 4.69 lakhs and INR 5.99 lakhs respectively.
In comparison to the standard Street 750, the Street Rod 750 had premium components along with different graphics on the fuel tank and colour-coded headlight fairing. Mechanically, the Street Rod 750 was equipped with the same engine as that of standard Street 750 but it produced slightly more torque.
Both the bikes were powered by a 749cc, liquid-cooled, Revolution X V-Twin engine that complied with the stringent BS6 emission norms. The Street Rod 750 was good for 65 Nm of peak torque at 4,000 rpm and the engine was mated to a 6-speed gearbox. In comparison, the Street 750 was capable to generate a peak torque of 59 Nm.
The suspension duties on the Street Rod were performed by USD forks at the front and specially-tuned twin shock absorbers at the rear. For braking performance, there was a disc brake at either end which were further paired to a dual-channel ABS unit.
