After the launch of the Harley-Davidson Pan America in India, it was time for the Milwaukee bikemaker to bring its second offering with the Revolution Max engine to India. And after much anticipation, the Harley-Davidson Sportster S has been launched at the India Bike Week 2021 with a price starting at Rs 15.51 lakhs. This bike is meant to be the revival of the new generation of Sportster.
For starters, the biggest talking point has to be the engine. It is the 1252cc revolution max V-twin liquid-cooled engine generating a maximum power figure of 121hp and not 150hp like on the Pan America 1250 to match its sporty cruiser vibe. The bike produces a max torque of 127Nm in collaboration with a 6-speed gearbox with a slipper clutch and comes with an 11.8-litre fuel tank.
The oval-shaped LED headlamp quite looks like the Harley-Davidson Fat Bob with circular turn indicators along with LED taillight and indicators at the rear. It has arrived in India with a single seat option and won’t be a dual seat fitment due to the short and stubby tail section as a bike like this is best-enjoyed solo. Talking about its built-up, it comes with a brand new tubular steel trellis frame that houses the 1252cc powerful engine and a tubular steel swing arm at the base.
The suspension comprises 43mm inverted front forks and rear mono-shock and both are fully adjustable. The Sportster S runs on 17” front and 16” rear alloy wheels which come wrapped in specially developed Dunlop GT 503. In terms of braking, it gets a 320mm single disc at the front with a radial calliper from Brembo and at the rear, there is a Brembo single-piston calliper along with a 260mm single disc.
The bike comes with a full-LED 4.0-inch TFT screen with Bluetooth connectivity and different riding modes like Rain, Road, Sport, and Custom. The 228kg Harley Davidson Sportster S is available in three colour options – Midnight Crimson, Stone Washed White Pearl, and Vivid Black.
