200cc Hero sports bike has been officially launched in India at INR 98,500 (ex-showroom). Known as Xtreme 200S, the bike was awaited from a long time since the introduction of Xtreme 200R in India. The 200S model first surfaced on the internet through an Instagram video, carrying the same red body finish as the launch model and with certain elements that earlier declared the Hero branding for the machine.
The 200cc sports bike is equipped with a 220mm rear disc brake and a 276mm front disc brake. Like the rest of the X-series Hero motorcycles, the Xtreme 200S is also equipped with a single-channel ABS unit. The front of the Hero Xtreme 200S comes with a deep visor placement that creates a scooter-like effect from the lower angle. Soon as the front section is left behind, the typical motorcycle design appears with telescopic forks and the bar-type handlebar.
The headlight is a single horizontally-stretched unit with LED illumination while the indicators are seen coming out of the side fairing. The Karizma nameplate has not been associated with this Hero sports bike as it comes with a standard handlebar and not the famed clip-on units as seen on the Karizma lineup.
The fuel tank of Hero Xtreme 200S looks massive and the front fairing is wider in comparison to the regular full-faired products available in India. The engine section is partially hidden under the fairing from the side angle and thus, results in a clean view.
The 200cc, carburetted air-cooled single-cylinder engine on the motorcycle is good for 18.4 HP of maximum power at 8000 rpm, and 17.1 Nm of maximum torque at 6500 rpm. The engine uses a familiar 5-speed gearbox.
The Xtreme 200S is equipped with an all-digital instrument console while the motorcycle is available in 3 colours: Black, Brown, and Red. At the same launch event, Hero MotoCorp also launched the much awaited XPulse 200 series in India.
