200cc Hero X-Series Motorcycles: Everything You Need to Know

The 200cc Hero X-series motorcycles will define the brand’s character in 2019, offering four different body types through the use of their diamond frame. The brand was earlier tagged primarily for the commuter bikes but now, the four options are truly promising for every rider who wishes to jump from either 125cc or 150cc segment in India. Here is everything that you need to know about the 2019 Hero X-Series motorcycles (Xtreme 200R, Xtreme 200S, XPulse 200T, and XPulse 200).

Design & Looks

Hero MotoCorp has worked hard to differentiate the design lines of all the bikes falling under the segment. The Xtreme 200R comes with a standard street-specific design while Xtreme 200S comes with enhanced fairing and unique headlight design to announce its presence. The XPulse series is available with a round headlight, with 200T getting a mild-touring stance. On the other hand, the raised exhaust and huge front tire on the XPulse 200 confirm that it’s made for a purpose. The exhaust design on the Xtreme 200R is different than all the other 3 bikes.

Engine & Gearbox

The four motorcycles are using 199.6cc air-cooled carburetted engine to produce 18.4 HP at 8000 rpm and 17.1 Nm at 6500 rpm. Apart from the four options, the special XPulse 200 Fi variant offers fuel injection and thus, claims a bigger price tag than usual. All the engines are available with a 5-speed manual gearbox as standard. Hero MotoCorp is sharing the same power and torque configuration among all their 200cc motorcycles to keep the costs in check.

Top Speed & Mileage

Hero Xtreme 200R claims a top speed of 112 kph while Xtreme 200S is said to reach 122 kph of top speed. The former lacks the top end push that comes into the latter with the aerodynamic fairing. The mileage for Xtreme 200R is 39.9 kmpl while the same can be expected from the 1 kg heavier faired motorcycle. On the other hand, XPulse can be expected to return around 34-36 kmpl of mileage due to lack of any air-channelling design approach. Also, the top speed can be anything over the 110 kph mark but, that won’t matter for most buyers.

Brakes & Suspension

200cc Hero X-series motorcycles are available with single channel ABS as standard. All the five variants are sharing the same 276mm front disc brake while the rear is available with 220mm disc brake on the first four variants. The Xpulse 200 Fi is available with 220mm petal disc brake at the rear end. The suspension components on the Xtreme 200R, 200S, and XPulse 200T are exactly similar (37mm front forks with anti-friction bush and 7-step rear monoshock) while the XPulse 200 is sold with 37mm forks with Double DU Bush and 10-step adjustable rear monoshock. The wheel travel on this model is 190mm for the front and 170mm for the rear.

Xtreme 200R is the Only 200cc Hero X-Series Motorcycle to Feature an Analog-Digital Console
The Xtreme 200S, XPulse 200, and the XPulse 200T are Equipped with an All-Digital Console with Bluetooth Connectivity

Lighting & Instrument Console

The front and rear LED lights are standard on Xtreme 200S, Xpulse 200T, and the Xpulse 200. On the other hand, the taillight on the Xtreme 200R is LED-powered while its headlight is halogen. The same case is applicable on the instrument console as Xtreme 200R uses a semi-digital unit in comparison to the modern all-digital console of the other three bikes with navigation support and smartphone connectivity.

Dimensions & Capacities

All the four models are different from each other, sharing the basic frame, brakes and even the suspension parts to some extent. The cost-cutting measures are fully active and believing the fact that the top model costs just INR 1.05 lakh is pretty hard. Here is the detailed comparison between all the models.
