2020 BS6 Hero Bikes and Scooters Launched in India: The largest two-wheeler manufacturer, Hero Motocorp has rolled out multiple bikes and scooters in the Indian market ahead of the implementation of BS6 emission norms in the country on April 1, 2020.
The list of BS6 products includes Splendor Plus, Passion Pro, Glamour 125, Destini 125, Maestro Edge 125, and the all-new Xtreme 160R. In addition to these six products, the brand recently also launched the BS6-compliant Splendor iSmart 110, Pleasure Plus, and HF Deluxe. Here are the quick details and ex-showroom prices for the new BS6 range of Hero bikes and scooters.
Starting with the 2020 Hero Passion Pro, it has been priced at INR 64,990 for the self-drum-alloy variant while the front-disc-alloy variant costs INR 67,190. Mechanically, the bike is equipped with a 113.2cc, BS6-compliant, fuel-injected, single-cylinder engine that generates a maximum power of 9.15HP @ 7,500 rpm and a peak torque of 9.79Nm @ 5,000 rpm. According to the brand, the presence of the i3S idle start/stop system will increase the overall fuel-efficiency of the bike by 5%.
The 2020 Hero Glamour 125 is also being offered in two variants, one with a front drum brake that comes priced at INR 68,900 while the front disc brake variant is priced INR 72,400. Mechanically, the bike gets a 124.7cc, BS6-compliant, air-cooled, 4-stroke, single-cylinder engine that comes with XSens programmed fuel-injection technology. It produces 10.7HP of maximum power at 7500 rpm along with 10.6Nm of peak torque. The BS6 model of the Hero Glamour 125 is equipped with a 5-speed gearbox.
The 2020 model of the best-selling Hero product, the Splendor+ has been launched with a starting price tag of INR 59,600. The bike is now equipped with a fuel-injection system while the transition to BS6 engine has resulted in a small loss in power figure for the bike. It now churns out 7.9HP of maximum power at 8,000 rpm along 8.05Nm of peak torque at 6,000 rpm. The engine continues to come mated with a 4-speed gearbox.
In terms of pricing, the BS6-compliant model of the Hero Splendor Plus is priced at INR 59,600 for the kick start with alloy wheels variant, INR 61,900 for self start with alloy wheels variant, and INR 63,110 for the self-start, alloy wheels variant with i3S technology. All three variants are around INR 6,000 pricier than the outgoing BS4 models.
In addition to the Passion Pro, Glamour, and Splendor Plus, Hero MotoCorp has also launched its first 160cc bike at the ‘Hero World 2020’ event. For now, the brand has not revealed the price tag while the bookings are expected to commence in the coming weeks. The all-new streetfighter would be competing with the likes of Yamaha FZS, TVS Apache RTR 160, Bajaj Pulsar NS160, Suzuki Gixxer 155, and the Honda CB Hornet 160R. Coming to the BS6 scooter range, the 2020 Hero Destini 125 is available in 2 variants. Its LX variant comes priced at INR 64,310 and the VX variant is priced at INR 66,800. Compared to the BS4 model, it is approximately INR 7,000 pricier. Mechanically, the BS6-compliant scooter produces 9HP of maximum power at 7000 rpm along with a peak torque of 10.4Nm @ 5500 rpm. The brand has also claimed that the BS6 model of the scooter is 11% more fuel-efficient when compared to the BS4 model.
The 2020 Hero Maestro Edge 125 has been launched in 3 variants:
The scooter has got a price hike of INR 8,000 over the BS4-compliant carburetted models. Mechanically, the BS6 model of the Hero Maestro Edge 125 gets a fuel-injected engine that produces 9HP of maximum power along with 10.4Nm of peak torque.
Apart from the above-mentioned products, Hero MotoCorp is expected to launch the BS6-compliant models of the xPulse 200, xPulse 200T, Xtreme 200R, Xtreme 200S, and Duet in the coming days.
