The all-new Hero Xtreme 160R was initially unveiled at the ‘Hero World 2020’ event and was able to win the audience with splendid performance in the Xtreme Sports segment. The brand has not based the new 160R on its bigger sibling 200R when it comes to the design language though the overall styling is indeed inspired from the Hero Xtreme 1R concept that was unveiled back at the EICMA 2019.
Hero Xtreme 160R features a host of similarities to the 1R prototype showcased in Milan, Italy. The 160R has been offered a sharper profile with angular lines flowing all the way from the fuel tank to the rear of the motorcycle, adding to its sculpted outlook.
Powering the Xtreme 160R is a 160cc, single-cylinder, fuel-injected engine that is BS6-compliant and capable of churning out a maximum power of 15HP @ 8,000 rpm and a peak torque of 14Nm @ 6,500 rpm. The motorcycle is capable of accelerating from 0 to 60 kmph in just 4.7 seconds while the kerb weight stands at 138 kg.
The similar design language with a lightweight chassis, powerful performance as well as a quick acceleration can further act as the basis of the 2022 Hero Xtreme 200R 4V. As the brand is planning to launch the new model of 200R very soon, one can further expect the motorcycle to be inspired from its younger sibling in terms of design while the 4-valve 200cc engine will be capable of competing in the market against the likes of Bajaj Pulsar NS200 and TVS Apache RTR 200 4V.
Powering the old model of Hero Xtreme 200R is a 199.6cc, single-cylinder engine that is good for 18.4HP of power and a peak torque of 17.1Nm. The engine comes mated to a 5-speed transmission. The 2022 Hero Xtreme 200R is expected to feature altered performance figures with a more powerful 4-valve engine. Though there has been no official confirmation received on its launch date as of yet, one can safely assume the 2022 model of Xtreme 200R to launch in the Indian markets around Diwali next month.
