Hero Hunk is a muscular 150cc motorcycle that came with the same engine as CBZ Extreme. Hero MotoCorp had to drop the motorcycle from the domestic market. But it is still manufactured in India and is shipped overseas. Hero Hunk was the highest-exported 2-wheeler from India’s largest 2W manufacturer in August 2022.
In a few global markets, Hero sells the Xtreme 160R as the Hunk 160R. The Hunk 190R uses the same engine as the Xpulse 200 and is available in a few other markets.
A new Hero Hunk test mules were spotted in Jaipur, near the Hero MotoCorp Tech Center. They were both wearing red number plates, indicating that they were test mules. These bikes are like the Hero Xtreme 200R.
The test mule has a similar headlight, tank, body panels, tank shrouds, alloy wheels, exhaust canister, and taillight designs. The engine is the only major difference. The 2023 Hero Hunk, which was spotted testing, had a 160cc engine, which we also saw on the Xtreme 160R.
The engine casing is more akin to a 160cc than a 200cc. Hero MotoCorp appears to be targeting the lower end of the 150cc and 160cc segments, and Honda Unicorn is currently ruling this segment.
Some notable features include LED taillights, halogen headlights, mono-shock rear suspension, dual disc brakes, alloy wheels, and telescopic front suspension.
The Xtreme 160R’s engine produces 15 bhp and 14 Nm of torque. This engine may be detuned to fit the segment on the 2023 Hero Hunk. Honda Unicorn has gained a lot of traction in recent months and is regaining lost market share. Another likely rival for Hunk 160 is the recently launched Bajaj Pulsar P150, which has a single-disc variant.
If it is planned for India, the new Hunk could be released sometime next year. As the test mules appeared to be production-ready. We’d guess a price of around Rs. 1 lakh to Rs. 1.10 lakh (ex-showroom) for the top-spec trim with Bluetooth connectivity. And a price of less than Rs. 1 lakh for the base trim without connectivity features.
