After such a long time, Hero MotoCorp has finally managed to grab a big chunk of market share in the 150cc-200cc motorcycle segment with the launch of multiple products like XPulse 200 2V, XPulse 200 4V, XPulse 200T, Xtreme 160R, and the Xtreme 200S.
According to a recent report by Economic Times, Hero MotoCorp has revealed that they have not delayed any of the premium product launches due to the ongoing Coronavirus pandemic. The launch is on track and the brand is going to launch new 250cc-300cc premium motorcycles in the next three to five years. Here are the official statements by Hero MotoCorp CFO Niranjan Gupta:
“We had embarked on this premium strategy in terms of filling the portfolio right across all the CCs and all the segments. You have already seen us coming out with Xtreme 160R, you have seen us coming out with Xpulse and you will see more and more products coming out every year.”
“In terms of new products, the company is not delaying launches. As of now, all our launch pipeline plans, which are there for the next three to five years, remain exactly where they were,” he added.
In recent years, Hero has unveiled a lot of premium motorcycle concepts like the HX250R, Hastur 620, and the XF3R but unfortunately, none of the concepts got a green signal and the brand never revealed the production-spec version of any of these motorcycles.
Hero MotoCorp recently also showcased a 300cc adventure motorcycle prototype, which is expected to launch as XPulse 300 in the Indian markets. Apart from the adventure bike, we can expect the brand to launch a 250cc sports bike and a 300cc naked streetfighter within the next three to five years.
The upcoming Hero motorcycles would be competing with the likes of TVS Apache RR 310, the new Bajaj Pulsar 250s, Suzuki Gixxer 250s, and the 200cc-400cc KTM sportbikes.
