Hero Electric AE-47 Streetfighter India Launch Delayed Again: The Hero Electric AE-47 street bike was officially showcased back at the Auto Expo in February 2020. The bike was expected to launch in the Indian markets by the end of last year and then by the mid of this year but as per the latest details available, the launch has been postponed due to the ongoing coronavirus pandemic. The brand has officially announced that they have no plans to launch the electric motorcycle in India this year.
“We’re certainly going to launch products in the premium category. The AE-47 and other premium products are ready, but the launch is likely to be delayed. With the current market scenario with the COVID-19 second wave, as well as our focus on low-cost electric two-wheelers, the launch of our premium range will be pushed to a later date, perhaps sometime in 2022,” Munjal told NDTV.
The all-electric AE-47 is powered by a 4kW electric motor while the company-claimed top speed of the motorcycle stands at 85kmph. It comes with a lightweight portable 48V/3.5kWh battery that can be fully charged in 4 hours. The AE-47 has two ride modes – Eco Mode and Power Mode. The estimated range of the electric bike in Eco Mode is 160km whereas it has a range of 85km in the Power Mode on a single charge. The Hero Electric AE-47 has a claimed acceleration figure of 0-60kmph in 9 seconds.
In terms of features, the bike gets an all-digital instrument console, a mobile charger, a walk-assist and a reverse feature. The e-bike also supports smartphone integration via a mobile phone app that features GPS, GPRS, real-time tracking and geo-fencing. Hero Electric is expected to launch the AE-47 in the Indian markets with an ex-showroom price tag of around INR 1.25 lakhs to 1.50 lakhs.
