With the implementation of BS6 emission norms in India from April 1, 2020, the manufacturers have been upgrading their most cherished vehicles with BS6-compliant engines while the models not contributing towards sales have been discontinued. One of the most famous two-wheeler manufacturers in India, Hero MotoCorp has recently updated its official website and has removed 15 two-wheelers from its portfolio.
Here is the complete list of two-wheelers that have been removed by Hero MotoCorp from its official website:
The brand has permanently discontinued the Splendor Pro, HF Dawn, HF Deluxe Eco, Passion xPro, Xtreme Sports, Achiever 150, Karizma ZMR and the more-affordable last-gen Glamour series in India. At present, only 8 bikes are listed on Hero MotoCorp’s official website:
Except for the Hero XPulse 200, the brand has also removed the rest of the 200cc models from its official website. The list includes Xtreme 200R, Xtreme 200S, and the XPulse 200T. The brand is expected to launch the Hero Xtreme 160R in the Indian markets after the nationwide lockdown to curb the spread of coronavirus is lifted.
On the other hand, the 110cc scooters have been replaced with Hero Maestro Edge 125 and Duet 125 which are now BS6-compliant and are capable of offering powerful performance with increased engine capacities. In addition to this, Hero MotoCorp recently replaced the Pleasure (102cc model) with a new and more-powerful 110cc Pleasure+ in the Indian market.
Since the manufacturers have been dealing with millions of losses in terms of the unsold BS4 inventory due to the lockdown, the Supreme Court of India has offered relief to the dealerships to sell 10% of their remaining BS4 inventory in 10 days post the lockdown. Hero MotoCorp has recently inaugurated its sixth production plant in India in Chittoor, Andhra Pradesh that will create thousands of employment opportunities for the people in the region.
