It's Official: Hero MotoCorp to Skip Auto Expo 2020

In an interesting turn of events, Hero MotoCorp will not be a part of India’s largest auto show, the Auto Expo, which is scheduled to start from February 7, 2020, and will last till February 12, 2020. The brand has opted out of the show in addition to several other auto manufacturers considering the slowdown in the auto industry.

Commenting on skipping the upcoming Auto Expo, Hero officials stated – “The domestic two-wheeler industry has been passing through a time of volatility, with market demand continuing to be sluggish. Notwithstanding these challenges, Hero MotoCorp – and indeed the entire industry – is gearing up for the migration to the new emission norms ahead of the mandatory deadline of April 1, 2020. At a time such as this, it is prudent for us to prioritise our resources towards meeting business objectives for the benefit of our customers and other stakeholders. In keeping with our prioritised objectives, we have decided after much deliberation, to skip the upcoming Auto Expo.”

Since one of India’s largest two-wheeler manufacturers has decided to skip out on the largest auto show in India, one can easily estimate the present condition of the automobile market in the country.

The brand is registering a major downfall in the two-wheeler sales since long. Coming to the total sales figure registered by Hero MotoCorp in August 2019, the brand is witnessing a huge decline in sales. As the brand didn’t update some of its bikes with ABS, the Hero Achiever and Karizma registered a decline in sales by 100% as compared to the same month in 2018. In addition to these, the Hero Maestro, Duet as well as Hero Xtreme 200 have registered a decline in sales by 60%, 84% and 74% respectively.
