Hero Xtreme 200R Launched Across India for INR 89,900

Hero Xtreme 200R is now available across India for INR 89,900. Earlier, it exclusively went on sale in West Bengal and North Eastern states of India for an unknown reason. The INR 88,000 price tag for the ABS-equipped single variant may not remain the actual price after their silent launch event. The official price list for all states is yet to arrive. The deliveries of Xtreme 200R have also started in North Eastern states, while the bookings for the affordable 200cc bike are now open.

The move leaves fans with tough decision making between Xtreme and other popular options like TVS Apache RTR 200 and Bajaj Pulsar NS200. The street bike segment has seen a lot of growth through these two products but, the placement of Xtreme 200R raised a lot of questions in the mind of an average Indian buyer. If Hero could launch the same with single-channel ABS for such an exciting price, why both the other brands are charging INR 20,000 and INR 22,000 more for a similar spec variant. Highly tuned engines are one reason but still, the gap cannot be justified for any reason, especially in the case of Bajaj Pulsar NS200 ABS, which is priced @ INR 1.12 Lakh (ex-showroom Delhi).

Hero Xtreme 200R is more like a commuter-friendly street bike with 199.6cc, air-cooled engine, producing 18.1 bhp at 8000 rpm and 17.1 Nm at 6500 rpm. The engine comes mated to a 5-speed gearbox. The reviews for Xtreme 200R’s engine quality claims a mature riding character.

The beefed up front end comes with 100mm tire and extended tank shrouds. Xtreme 200R comes with a comfortable single seat with 795mm of rider seat height and perfect width for city rides. It measures 2062mm, 778mm and 1072mm in length, width and height respectively. The front disc brake measures 276mm, further equipped with ABS for worry-free wet surface braking ability. The rear end is offered with a 130mm tire and 220mm disc brake. The lightweight body of Xtreme 200R, weighing just 148 kg with full fuel tank, makes it quicker and mileage friendly.
