According to recent reports, a 200cc Honda adventure motorcycle is in the making and it will further rival the Hero XPulse 200. The brand is currently focusing on increasing its foothold in the entry-level premium motorcycle segment and a recently released sketch of an adventure motorcycle is enough to speculate on the chances.
Judging from the design, the upcoming motorcycle seems to be an off-roader which features a 21-inch wheel at the front while the rear has been equipped with an 18-inch wheel. The motorcycle sits on a single downtube frame that also forms the basis of the Hero XPulse 200. The suspension duties are handled by long-travel forks at the front while the rear features a monoshock absorber.
Taking the design inspiration from the dual-sports Honda CRF series, the upcoming motorcycle features the same bits and pieces while the overall body fairing, as well as the front headlight unit, is inspired from the Honda CRF250L.
Powering the 200cc Honda adventure motorcycle will be a BS6-compliant, single-cylinder, oil-cooled engine equipped with fuel injection technology. The engine is expected to churn out power and torque figures close to that of the Hero XPulse 200. At present, the BS6 model of the Xpulse is capable of offering maximum power of 17.8 HP @ 8500 rpm and a peak torque of 16.45 Nm @ 6500 rpm. The engine comes mated to a 5-speed transmission.
The motorcycle is expected to be launched sometime in the year 2022 though there has been no official confirmation received in the same. If Honda plans on launching the 200cc adventure motorcycle in the Indian market, the simplistic design offered to it will allow the brand to price its affordably as well as target the high volume segment. The 200cc adventure motorcycle will be the debut motorcycle to be equipped with an all-new engine from Honda.
