Honda, the Japanese automobile giant has recently launched the 2016 variant of its entry level sportsbike – Honda CBR150R in Indonesia. Starting at a price of IDR 32.9 million(Rs 1.65 lac) for the basic model, and shooting up to IDR 33.3 million (Rs 1.68 lac) for the top end Honda Repsol MotoGP edition, the Honda’s new baby CBR is expected to cost slightly more than its predecessor in India.
The new CBR comes with fire-blade styled twin headlights, aggressive styling, an updated digital cluster and a re-designed exhaust. The bike has also undergone some serious mechanical upgrades. The new tweaked engine produces a power output of 16.9 BHP at 9,000 rpm and a peak torque of 13.7 Nm at 7000 rpm. A new, longer swing arm has replaced its traditional counterpart, making the bike look sportier than ever.
Indian fans have been longing for Honda to upgrade its baby CBR which as only received minor upgrades ever since its release. The new Honda CBR 150R 2016 is going to be a completely different bike from it’s aging predecessor currently being sold in the Indian markets. The CBR is expected to launch sometime in the current year.
Will the dramatic cosmetic and technical changes seen in the new 2016 CBR improve the dwindling sales of its previous version? Can Honda’s new baby compete with similar offerings from Pulsar, KTM or Yamaha? Only time will answer this, meanwhile, share your views and let us know what you think.
