2018 Honda CB Shine SP has been launched in India for INR 62,032 (ex-showroom Delhi). This makes it the most expensive 125cc bike with a carburetor. Top spec Honda CB Shine SP with combi braking system is priced at INR 66,508.
Only Honda fans know how they can justify this extremely high pricing as paying INR 4500 for a disc and CBS shows clear overcharging. For some comparison, one must see that 150cc Yamaha SZ-RR V2 is priced at INR 67,803 and V15 sits lower than usual at INR 64,179. Most buyers around this segment are looking for affordability and CB Shine SP stays the opposite.
Still, majority of Honda’s motorcycle sale comes from the Shine series and that shows how riders trust the brand more than value for money offerings of other brands. CB Shine SP is powered by a 125cc, single cylinder engine producing 10.16 BHP at 7500 rpm and 10.30 Nm at 5500 rpm.
The engine comes mated to a 5-speed gearbox. The design looks even more proportionate than before with the addition of newly designed tank extension and rear seat panel. It weighs just 120 kg for the base variant while top spec CBS variant weighs 3 kg extra.
Shine SP measures 2007mm in length, 762mm in width and 1085mm in height. Basic focus stays on comfort as one gets reasonable low seat and 160mm of sufficient ground clearance. Both ends are equipped with tubeless tyres that measure 80/100-18.
Buyers can get their hands on Black, Athletic Blue Metallic, Imperial Red Metallic, Geny Grey Metallic and Pearl Siren Blue shade. Honda has introduced a semi-digital instrument console on CB Shine SP. Buyers can personalize their Shine SP by choosing items from a long list of accessories. It rivals none other than Hero Glamour 125 and Yamaha Saluto 125.
