2018 Honda CB250R Launched in Japan @ 4,66,000 Yen (INR 2.87 Lakh)

2018 Honda CB250R has been launched in Japan for 4,66,000 Yen (INR 2.87 lakh approx). It also comes with an ABS equipped model for 5,13,000 Yen (INR 3.16 lakh approx). The motorcycle remains identical to CB300R in terms of design while engine on offer here is different.

Honda offers 249cc, water cooled DOHC engine producing 27 HP at 9000 rpm and 23 Nm at 8000 rpm on new CB250R. ABS equipped model weighs 144 kg while the one available without ABS weighs 142 kg. The motorcycle can be bought in Fearless Black, Candy Chromosphere Red and Matte Krypton Silver Metallic.

They have shaped CB250R in the same way as CB1000R and thus, entire family of naked motorcycles from Honda use this design. Honda Japan is planning to sell 4600 units on average. Even after providing that big bike feel, Honda CB250R is said to support a city friendly component setup.

Front tyre on offer is 110/70-17 while rear gets 150/60-17 rubber for optimum grip. Also, it is claimed to return 44.5 kmpl under ideal riding conditions (60 kmph, two riders). This makes CB250R a smooth motorcycle and thus, could help with everyday mobility in tight city spaces.

Honda India is pretty slow in terms of bringing new products to the country. They could have used this frame to provide the Indian market will all new CB250R and CB150R. Also, the engine could be used from present generation CBR250R to cut cost for India as well as other markets where 250cc motorcycles already exist.

The next generation design language is quite attractive as one gets round headlight that looks more modern that typical street fighter faces. They are using USD forks in Japan while Honda could go the Yamaha way and remove some premium equipment to slot it perfectly in future.
