2019 Honda CB250R is now official for the Japanese market, bringing new shades and an updated profile for the home market. As the Indian market has recently got the new CB300R for INR 2.41 lakh, the scope for CB250R’s introduction is lower at present. The design lines are identical in both the bikes, sharing the majority of the components and getting the engine swap to cater markets where taxation follows the displacement lead. The golden alloy wheels and USD forks are exclusive on the quarter-litre variant. Honda uses a 249cc, single cylinder engine, producing 27 HP at 9000 rpm and 23 Nm at 8000 rpm. The engine comes mated to a 6-speed gearbox.
The Indian CBR250R has a slightly different output for the quarter-litre engine but still, cannot be considered less powerful due to the availability of power at a lower point. Honda can use the same engine on the CB250R, saving a lot in terms of research and localization by sharing the body among two models and engine among the quarter-litre options. The high amount of part sharing can help them place the same under INR 2 lakh while the gap between CB300R and 2019 Honda CB250R can also be justified by a difference of more than INR 40,000.
Honda CB250R comes with USD front forks, 44.5 kmpl of claimed mileage and wet weight of 144 kg. The claimed weight falls in the 150cc motorcycle segment, making it highly effective for those who are looking for city-specific sprinting and quick overtaking ability from their motorcycle. The motorcycle measures 2020mm in length, 805mm in width and 1045mm in height. The iconic Neo Cafe styling is visible on the body, with LED headlight taking care of the night-time riding. The wheelbase measures 1355mm while ground clearance available here is 147mm.
