As per one of the recent updates, the 2020 BS6 Honda CB Hornet 160R is expected to launch in the Indian market in the coming weeks. Earlier, the BS6 Hornet was expected to launch back in March this year but the launch got delayed due to the Coronavirus lockdown. As of now, Honda 2-Wheelers has not announced anything officially regarding the launch but one can expect it to take place after 15-20 days.
The updated model of the motorcycle will be powered by the same 160cc, PGM-Fi, HET, single-cylinder, air-cooled engine which was introduced with the launch of the BS6-compliant 2020 Unicorn 160. For your reference, the BS6 Unicorn 160 generates 12.9 HP of maximum power at 7500 rpm along with a peak torque of 14 Nm at 5500 rpm. The engine is mated to a 5-speed gearbox.
As CB Hornet 160R is a premium offering when compared to the Unicorn 160, Honda is expected to tune the engine to offer more power and torque than the Unicorn. In terms of looks, the 2020 BS6 model of Hornet 160R is expected to stay more or less the same in comparison to the BS4-compliant model though one can expect the brand to introduce new shades and graphics to offer fresh looks to the bike.
The BS4 model of the CB Hornet 160R was launched back on March 26, 2018, and it was discontinued earlier this year due to the implementation of the BS6 emission norms on April 1, 2020. The BS4 model was powered by a 162.71cc, single-cylinder engine producing 14.9 BHP at 8500 rpm and 14.5 Nm at 6500 rpm. The engine was mated to a 5-speed gearbox.
In terms of pricing, the 2020 BS6 Honda CB Hornet 160R is expected to get a starting ex-showroom price tag of around INR 95,000 to INR 98,000, and it will come equipped with a single-channel ABS unit as standard.
