2020 Honda CBR1000RR-R Superbike Officially Unveiled

Honda has officially revealed the CBR1000RR-R and CBR1000RR-R SP track-focused superbikes that are by far the most technology-advanced motorcycles to be ever realised by the Japanese brand. Specifically designed with the help of HRC (Honda Racing Corporation), the brand promises the all-new Fireblade variants to be born for redefining racing itself.

Taking inspiration from the aerodynamics package of the Honda RC213V, the all-new Honda CBR1000RR-R is equipped with a more powerful Euro5-compliant 999.9cc 4-cylinder liquid-cooled fuel-injected engine. The superbike is now capable of generating a maximum power figure of 214HP @ 14,500 rpm and a peak torque of 113Nm @ 12,500 rpm. The engine is mated to a 6-speed gearbox.

The kerb weight of the all-new CBR1000RR-R Fireblade stands at 202.1kgs while the SP variant tips the scale at 201.3kgs. The aerodynamic winglets offered to the motorcycle specifically increases the downforce and improves the braking power.

The motorcycle has been further equipped with a full-colour TFT display adding to its superiority while the Honda Selectable Torque Control (HSTC) offered to the Fireblade allows gaining the slip rate control. The brand has equipped the motorcycle with three riding modes in addition to allowing the rider to customize the power and brakes.

Coming to the SP variant of the Honda CBR1000RR-R, the motorcycle has been offered second-gen 43mm front forks by Ohlins in addition to getting extra Brembo callipers to make it more track-focused in comparison to the standard variant. The rear of the motorcycle has been equipped with Ohlins TTX36 Smart-EC monoshock unit. The braking duties on the motorcycle are handled by Brembo Stylema four-piston radial callipers at the front while the brand had equipped the rear with Brembo monoblock calliper borrowed from the Honda RC213V-S.

The brand is offering the Honda CBR1000RR-R and SP in Grand Prix Red and Matte Pearl Black colour variants, both equipped with a titanium Akrapovic exhaust as standard. If and when launched in India, the motorcycles will feature a BS6-compliant engine, catering to the new emission norms. The pricing and availability details of the motorcycles are still to be unveiled by the brand in the coming days.
