2020 Honda CBR250RR Sports Bike in the Making

According to a recent report, the next-gen update of the CBR250RR is expected to hit the international markets in the coming months. The 2020 Honda CBR250RR is expected to get a host of new updates including the addition of a new slipper clutch, minor design improvements, premium hardware as well as a smart key system.

In addition to these, the brand will be reducing the weight of the facelifted Honda CBR250RR in order to offer a better power-to-weight ratio. Currently, the motorcycle scales against a kerb weight of 168 kgs for the dual-channel ABS variant.

Powering the current generation Honda CBR250RR is a 249.7cc parallel twin-cylinder, 8-valve, DOHC liquid-cooled engine capable of churning out a maximum power of 38.7 HP at 12,500 rpm and a peak torque of 23.3 Nm at 11,000 rpm. The engine is mated to a 6-speed transmission. The sportbike has been mated to a throttle-by-wire system while offers three riding modes namely: Comfort, Sports and Sports+.

The suspension duties on the motorcycle are handled by upside-down forks at the front while the rear of Honda CBR250RR features a 5-step adjustable monoshock absorber. The brand is expected to offer the 2020 Honda CBR250RR with a uni-directional quick-shifter to keep the cost under check.

Expected to be codenamed as K64J, the facelifted Honda CBR250RR will compete in the market with the likes of Yamaha YZF-R25 and the Kawasaki Ninja 250. The updated motorcycle is expected to be launched at the Tokyo Motor Show later this year. As of now, Honda has no plans to launch the CBR250RR in the Indian market.
