According to the latest buzz, Honda is all set to expand its BigWing premium motorcycle portfolio in its phase 2 plans. Honda 2-Wheelers currently features a total of 7 motorcycles under its BigWing range and as per a recent official statement, the brand is planning to launch 5 new Honda bikes sometime in the year 2020. The reports also suggest local production of some of the premium motorcycles by the brand which will allow them to be affordably priced in the Indian market.
Commenting on the plans to launch 5 new Honda bikes, Yadvinder Singh Guleria, senior vice president, sales and marketing, Honda Motorcycle & Scooter India Pvt. Ltd. stated – “Globally Honda has a strong legacy of fun riding – be it for fun urban riding, super-sport racing, luxurious touring or even off-roading. Starting April 2019, Honda spearheaded its new premium bike business identity under the silver wing mark branded as Honda BigWing. Honda will unleash phase 2 of its premium business vertical in the new BS6 era. Customers can expect double the fun with 13 iconic global models including five brand new models. This will be supported by exclusive Honda BigWing network for sales and service in 75 cities.”
Coming to the new motorcycle range, the brand has officially revealed three of its BigWing motorcycles at the EICMA 2019, which includes the all-new 2020 CBR1000RR-R Fireblade, CBR1000RR-R Fireblade SP, and the CRF1100L Africa Twin Adventure Sports.
When launched in India, the motorcycles are expected to feature BS6-compliant engines considering that the new emission norms will commence in the country from April 1, 2020. The pricing and other details on the motorcycles are yet to be revealed by the brand.
The remaining two of the upcoming 5 new Honda bikes could be the much-awaited CBR500R sports bike and the CB650R, which is the naked version of the CBR650R.
